Opened in May 2005, Le Mistral in Wirksworth quickly established itself as a firm favourite with both locals and visitors to the area. Branch Manager Sam North has been with Le Mistral since the branch opened although now he is joined in the business by partner Saskia Oosterwoud (and occasionally by their latest addition baby Heather - this may explain Sam's recent addition of a childs menu to his repertoire - details of which can be found by clicking here).
Le Mistral is situated in a delightful period building literally in the heart of the town and serves freshly made French favourites supplemented by regularly changing special menu items created by Sam, Jarek and the rest of the kitchen team. Why not try our version of a Sunday Roast - a platter loaded with a large Roast Chicken and all the trimmings you just need to choose how many of you eat it 2, 3, 4...... Its great for the family Dad can have a "blowout", Mum's watching her weight and the kids well they will eat just enough veg to get away with asking for a dessert - we call it "Le Roast" and it's available from 12 till 6pm on a Sunday but you must pre-order by Friday night so our butcher can get them ready for us.
Up to 60 people can be seated across two floors; either on the ground floor, which is perfect to watch life pass by through the large windows or in the more intimate surroundings of the original brick vaulted cellars. Wirksworth town has recently gained the status of a Fairtrade town and Le Mistral are proud to be part of this initiative with Fairtrade wines and teas available all year round. In addition to this we use only Derbyshire Beef, Pork and Lamb; locally produced salad and vegetables supplemented by specialist items sourced directly from the Rungis Market in Paris.
